On November 21, 2007, Ambassador of Bolivia to Japan Masakatsu Jaime Ashimine visited the "Women and the Culture of Peace" exhibition, created and sponsored by the Soka Gakkai Women's Peace Committee, at the Kawaguchi Civic Hall in Saitama Prefecture. The recently renewed exhibition, which conveys the message that women are the protagonists for creating a culture of peace, opened on November 18.
Ambassador Ashimine praised the exhibition for stressing respect for diversity, humanity's harmonious coexistence and humankind's oneness with the natural environment, as well as the Soka Gakkai's genuine efforts to promote activities that advance peace and environmental protection. Remarking that when speaking about peace the critical factor is the human being, he gave positive marks to the people-centered exhibition that raises awareness about how to actively become involved in peacebuilding.
Ambassador Ashimine, who was appointed to his current position in April 2007, speaks Spanish and Japanese and holds a degree in engineering from Bolivia Oruro National University of Technology.
"Women and the Culture of Peace" was displayed at Kawaguchi Civic Hall through November 25.
