On January 16, a national holiday celebrating and honoring the life and achievements of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (1929-1968), SGI-USA hosted the third annual youth nonviolence conference at the SGI-USA New York Culture Center. Some 120 SGI-USA youth representatives and members of UN NGOs participated. Entitled "Nonviolence through the Arts and Media: Open your Eyes, Open your Ears, Raise your Voice," the conference included panel discussions, lectures, films, songs and poems on peace and nonviolence.
