On November 23, 2006, SGI-Bolivia sponsored a seminar on Nichiren Buddhism at the SGI-Bolivia Culture Center in Santa Cruz, in collaboration with Nur University. Since July 2003, SGI Bolivia has hosted lectures and seminars on Buddhism as part of a class curriculum at the university at the request of Professor Juan Martinéz, a former Bolivian education minister. Dr. Martinéz remarked that the key to the future is a positive, inner reformation of each individual, which is at the heart of Buddhist practice. Darlyn, a student and seminar participant, said she had no previous knowledge of Buddhism until she attended these seminars. Based on what she heard, she stated she supports the SGI and its promotion of the actions ordinary people can take to contribute to peace, beginning with developing one's own potential.
