The Soka Gakkai International (SGI) is a worldwide association of 82 countries organizations with memberships in 190 countries and territories. Based on the life-affirming philosophy of Nichiren Buddhism, SGI members aim to develop positive human potentialities for hope, courage and altruistic action.
As an NGO with formal ties to the united nations, the SGI is particularly active with a focus on peace, sustainable development and human rights. This report contains the period from November 2004 to December 2005. Activities fall under consistent broad themes, but the scope and nature of the activities conducted in each country vary in accordance with the culture and characteristics of that society.
